Chore days: plant care grouped onto the day you choose

Folly's chore days group your plant care onto the day of the week you choose, so forty plants become one job on a Saturday instead of a reminder every other day. On Folly Pro, Smart Care moves each watering, feed and care task onto that day wherever the plant can safely wait or go a little early.

Thirsty plants are never held back: anything watered every three days or less keeps its own dates, and a watering is never moved more than a day or two.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick your chore day

Choose the day that suits you in settings: a Saturday morning, a quiet Wednesday evening, whenever you are home.

  2. 2

    Folly lines care up

On Folly Pro, each due date that can safely move is pulled onto that day. Plants that cannot wait keep their own dates.

  3. 3

    Do it in one go

On the day, Mark all as done clears the lot, or log a whole shelf at once and the next dates follow.

One job a week, not a trickle of reminders

A fixed interval for every plant spreads your care across the week: the fern on Monday, the monstera on Thursday, the cacti some Sunday next month. With a big collection that turns into a notification almost every day. Chore days pull those dates together onto the day you pick, so most of your watering, feeding and care tasks happen in one session.

Care tasks follow the same day. Rotating, cleaning leaves, misting, pest checks and the rest land on your chore day where they can, and a task you missed is reminded again on the next one rather than nagging you daily.

Moved only where the plant can take it

Grouping is only useful if it does not cost you plants, so the moves are small and leaning to the safe side. A watering can come up to a day or two early, or wait a day for a weekly gap and two days for a fortnightly one; overwatering kills more houseplants than a day's wait. Plants watered every three days or less are never moved at all.

Feeding has more room, so a feed can move up to four days early or three days late to meet your chore day. Every date still starts from Smart Care's own interval for that plant, built on 15+ attributes including its pot, its light, the season and your local weather.

Part of Folly Pro

Chore days are applied by Smart Care, so they are part of Folly Pro. On the free plan you can still pick a chore day, every reminder for the day arrives together in one notification, and Mark all as done and logging several plants at once keep a busy day quick, but due dates are not moved.

Questions people ask

Is there a plant app that groups watering onto one day?

Yes. On Folly Pro, chore days move each plant's watering, feeding and care tasks onto the day of the week you choose, wherever the plant can safely wait or go a little early.

Will moving watering to my chore day harm my plants?

The moves are kept small. A watering moves a day or two at most, never later than a day for a weekly plant or two for a fortnightly one, and plants watered every three days or less keep their own dates.

Are chore days free?

Chore days are part of Folly Pro, because Smart Care applies them. On the free plan, everything due arrives in one daily reminder and you can log several plants at once, but dates are not moved.

Can I change my chore day?

Yes. Pick a different day in settings at any time.

Does it work for feeding and care tasks too?

Yes. Feeds can move up to four days early or three late to meet your chore day, and care tasks such as rotating, misting and pest checks land on it where they can.
